Scroll of the Forbidden Zone

Volume I: Dan’s Descent

“I was called. By what, I cannot legally disclose.” — Dan, Seer of the Forbidden Zone

The Tale Begins

There are places in every household that mortals whisper about but dare not enter. Places where dust bunnies evolve into sentient beings. Places where lost toys go to plot their revenge. Places where the air hums with ancient, unspoken rules.

In the Hearthside Pantheon, this place is known only as:

The Forbidden Zone.

Some say it lies beneath the Great Throne Chair. Others claim it shifts, moving like a shadow with a grudge. But all agree on one thing:

Dan should not have gone there.

Dan’s Calling

Dan insists he didn’t choose to enter the Forbidden Zone — he was summoned. A whisper. A vibration. A cosmic nudge that felt suspiciously like Speck bumping him from behind.

He crossed the threshold with the solemnity of a pilgrim and the swagger of someone who absolutely did not understand the consequences.

Inside, he found:

  • A dust bunny the size of a small deity

  • Three missing hair ties

  • A single Cheerio from the Time Before

  • And something he refuses to describe but refers to only as “The Presence.”

He emerged changed. Quieter. Wiser. Slightly dustier.

The Aftermath

Bam was furious. Not because Dan entered the Forbidden Zone — but because he returned with knowledge.

Knowledge she did not authorize.

Knowledge she did not trust him to have.

Speck, meanwhile, claimed she “didn’t push him,” but her tail was vibrating with the kind of excitement only chaos can produce.

Dan refused to speak of what he saw, except to say:

“Some things are forbidden for a reason.”

And then he stared into the middle distance for a full minute.

Thus ends the first account of Dan’s descent into the Forbidden Zone — a place of mystery, danger, and questionable housekeeping. The Zone remains sealed… for now.
